AKANIMO - In D&c 107:52 It says that Noah was ordained at the age of 10? thats kind of strange. why was it so early?

JOEL - That was unusually young. The patriarchal priesthood was normally passed on from father to son (D&C 84: 14-15) and it could be that in this case, Methuselah, being very old and knowing the future role Noah was to play in God's plan, wanted to make sure he passed it on to his young grandson before he died.

President John Taylor said:
"God made arrangements beforehand and told Methuselah that when the people should be destroyed, that a remnant of his seed should occupy the earth and stand foremost upon it. And Methuselah was so anxious to have it done that he ordained Noah to the priesthood when he was ten years of age. Noah then stood in his day as the representative of God." (Taylor, Gospel Kingdom, 103-4)

This ordination was done however under the authority of God. In Moses 8:19 it says:
"And the Lord ordained Noah after his own order, and commanded him that he should go forth and declare his Gospel unto the children of men, even as it was given unto Enoch."
