BOYD - Do only mortals work in the temple (temple worker) during the millenium?

JOEL - We don't know many details about what will happen during the Millennium in regards to temple work.
According to President Joseph Fielding Smith:

"By the time Christ comes we are expected to have done all that is within our power to do now for our dead. That does not mean we are going to do all that is to be done, because it will go on during the millennium. The great work of the millennium will be the salvation of the dead, and those who are on the other side will help us, too, by bringing us information. The ordinances for the salvation of the dead are mortal ordinances, because all these ordinances pertain to this life, and immortal beings cannot perform them. Those who will be living here then will be in daily communication with those who have passed through the resurrection, and they will come with this information, this knowledge that we do not have and will give it to those who are in mortality saying, "Now go into the temples and do this work; when you get this done, we will bring you other names." And in that way every soul who is entitled to a place in the celestial kingdom of God will be ferreted out, and not one soul shall be overlooked. (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 2)

So according to President Smith only mortal beings can perform these ordinances. During the Millennium both mortal and immortal beings will inhabit the earth. Babies will be born to the mortals still living and will grow to the age of a tree (100 years according to Isaiah 65:20) before they are changed to an immortal state in the twinkling of an eye.

"And there shall be no sorrow because there is no death. In that day an infant shall not die until he is old; and his life shall be as the age of a tree; And when he dies he shall not sleep, that is to say in the earth, but shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye, and shall be caught up, and his rest shall be glorious." (D. & C. 101:29-31.)

So there will always be new mortals being born to the existing mortals who have not "changed" yet on the earth, all of which who are members will be able to perform temple ordinances for those dead spirits who have not yet been resurrected. And it will be easier for us in that we will have direct communication with the spirit world to know the names of all spirits who need the ordinances.

Brigham Young has said:
"Some of those who are not in mortality will come along and say, 'Here are a thousand names I wish you to attend to in the temple, and when you have got through with them I will give you another thousand.' " (Discourses, Brigham Young, pp. 581-582)

By then there will also be many more temples built wherin the ordinances can be performed. Brigham Young made this prophetic statement:

"I want to see the temple(Salt Lake) built in a manner that it will endure through the Millennium. This is not the only temple we shall build; there will be hundreds of them dedicated to the Lord. This temple (the Salt Lake Temple) will be known as the first temple built in the mountains by the Latter-day Saints. And when the Millennium is over, and all the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, down to the last of their posterity, who come within the reach of the clemency of the gospel, have been redeemed in hundreds of temples through the administration of their children as proxies for them, I want that temple still to stand as a proud monument of the faith, perseverance and industry of the Saints of God in the mountains, in the nineteenth century." (Discourses, pp. 604-605.)
