CARROT - What state do adam and eve have when they are still in the Garden of eden? can we compare it also in the celestial Kingdom? Coz when they ate the forbidden fruit, they were cast out in the Terrestial state. And the articles of faith mentioned that the earth will receive its paradiciacal glory.

JOEL - We can't really equate conditions in the garden of Eden with the Celestial kingdom. In the article of faith you mentioned, the phrase, "the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory" (A of F 1:10), is not talking about when the earth becomes the Celestial kingdom; it is speaking of after the second coming of Jesus Christ and the beginning of His millennial reign on earth. During this time of the thousand years of peace the earth will exist in a terrestrial glory. We can conclude therefore that if, for the millennium, the earth is to "return" to its paradisiacal glory, or back to the way things were in the Garden of Eden, that life on the Edenic earth was of a terrestrial order. It started out in a terrestrial state because of its close proximity to the Celestial kingdom where God dwelt. After the fall of man the earth fell from its position near God into its Telestial condition that we exist in now.

President Brigham Young explained:
"When the earth was framed and brought into existence and man was placed upon it, it was near the throne of our Father in heaven. And when man fell—though that was designed in the economy, there was nothing about it mysterious or unknown to the Gods, they understood it all, it was all planned—but when man fell, the earth fell into space, and took up its abode in this planetary system, and the sun became our light. . . This is the glory the earth came from, and when it is glorified it will return again unto the presence of the Father, and it will dwell there." (Journal of Discourses, 17:143).

It is interesting to note that the people of Enoch became so perfect and righteous that they could no longer exist in a tellestial condition and were therefore translated and taken from this earth into a terrestrial sphere before the second coming of Jesus.

Joseph Smith said:
"Many have supposed that the doctrine of translation was a doctrine whereby men were taken immediately into the presence of God, and into an eternal fulness, but this is a mistaken idea. Their place of habitation is that of the terrestrial order, and a place prepared for such characters, he held in reserve to be ministering angels unto many planets, and who as yet have not entered into so great a fullness as those who are resurrected from the dead."—("History of the Church," Vol. IV, pp. 209, 210.) Joseph Smith also stated that after the millennium, "This earth will be rolled back into the presence of God, and crowned with celestial glory." (Journal of Discourses, 9:31)

Elder Orson Pratt explained, "Man (Adam), when he was first placed upon this earth, was an immortal being, capable of eternal endurance; his flesh and bones, as well as his spirit, were immortal and eternal in their nature; and it was just so with all the inferior creation ...; all were immortal and eternal in their nature; and the earth itself, as a living being, was immortal and eternal in its nature." (Journal of Discourses, 1:281)

Therefore Adam and Eve existed in an immortal state in a terrestrial condition in the Garden of Eden.
