ELDER - What is the church position on baptism for the dead when the dead person has committed suicide?

JOEL - The Church takes the position that a person who commits suicide may not be responsible for his or her acts. Only God can judge such a matter. Generally, members may perform temple ordinances for deceased persons one year or more after the date of death without regard to the person's worthiness or cause of death.
It doesn't matter what the cause of death is; only God can make a judgment on who can benefit from the temple ordinances. Our job is to simply perform the ordinances for everyone.
