JESSICA - How does the mormon church stand on the death penalty? i personally dont believe in it. i know i wouldnt want to be the executioner when i die.

JOEL - The Church generally has not objected to capital punishment legally and justly administered. Scriptural records both ancient and modern condone such punishment (Gen. 9:5-6; Ex. 21:12, 23; 2 Ne. 9:35; Alma 1:13-14; D&C 42:19). God said to Noah, "And whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed;" (JST Gen. 9:12).
The majority of Americans approve of the death penalty and in fact LDS church members(89%) favor it more than those of other Christian religions(about 70%)
