JOSH - Did the father of Abraham have the Priesthood??

JOEL - It is unknown whether Terah, the father of Abraham had the priesthood or not. It is possible that at first he did but there is no direct information about that.According to the Book of Jubilies Abraham's father, Terah, worshipped idols, but Abraham rejected this (Jubilies 11: 15-16).

And from the Book of Abraham:
"Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father(Terah) was led away by their idolatry; ( Book of Abraham 1:27)

Because Terah was an idolater he either lost the priesthood or he was not allowed to have it, therefore his son Abraham could not receive the priesthood from him. He received it from Melchizedek.
"Which Abraham received the priesthood from Melchizedek, who received it through the lineage of his fathers, even till Noah;" (D&C 84:14 )
