JOEL - That's right. Joseph Smith never lived in Utah; neither did Moses or Isaiah or Noah.
As you know the Apostles are also called prophets. A couple of them live outside the U.S.. Elder Dallin H. Oaks is an area president in the Philippines, and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland is in Chile. But the head prophet and President of the Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, lives in Utah because that's where the Church headquarters is and that's where all his stuff is :-)
