MICHELLE - If a female has a abortion before knowing the Lds gospel can they be baptized in the church?
JOEL - Yes. Anyone who repents and submits themselves to baptism can be forgiven of any transgression and become a member of the church. One of the reasons for being baptized is to cleanse us of our sins so we can make a new start.
Even a murderer sitting in a prison who has never known the gospel can be baptized into the church if they have sincerely repented and have obtained permission from the First Presidency of the church. But someone who has had an abortion only needs to get the OK from the local Mission President to be baptized.
